Ciaran is a multi-instrumentalist and composer from Brechin in the North East of Scotland. He is now based in Edinburgh and is hugely in demand as a performer and recording artist.

He is most known for his work with “Dallahan”, of which he co-founded in 2013 with singer/guitarist Jack Badcock and fiddle player Jani Lang.

Dallahan went on to tour extensively in the UK, USA, Europe and also Asia.

The band was nominated for ‘Folk Band of the Year’ in 2015 at the Scots Trad Music Awards while their first two albums made the shortlist for ‘Album of the Year’ in 2015 and 2016 respectively and earned the award for ‘Best Instrumental Track of the Year’ at the Live Ireland awards (USA).

In 2018 the band were nominated in the Folk category in the German Music Critic Awards and nominated again for ‘Folk Band of the Year’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2019.

Ciaran has also performed internationally with Salsa Celtica, Adam Holmes and the Embers, High Rolling Sessions and Larsa. 


“Ciaran Ryan Band” is the ferocious new line-up born from the release of Ciaran’s debut solo album “Banjaxed”. Since their formation in late 2019 they have already caused a stir and taken their place as one of the hottest new instrumental band on the scene.
